CHILD SPONSORSHIP - Since 1997 the Children's Training and Nutrition Center in Poteau has been home to hundreds of Haitian youth. Currently, more than 75 youth live at the Children's Home. Each child is provided schooling, nutritious meals, vocational training, and spiritual discipleship, all in a pleasant and safe Christian environment. Youth leave the home at age 20 and are offered assistance through secondary school and university. Funding is primarily received through six sponsorships per child at $25/month.
STUDENT SPONSORSHIP - Poteau and Tarasse are partner schools of Hearts and Hands for Haiti. Sponsorship provides assistance with school uniforms, teacher salaries, tuition, supplies, and lunches. Students at these schools are available for sponsorship at $25/month.
- Poteau School began in 1997 with 30 boys from the Children's Home. After a few years, this school expanded to include children from the surrounding community. Poteau school has more than 400 students and is under the direction of Assagnier John.
- Tarasse Community School opened in 2002 under the leadership of Cherismond Delva. It is a quality school with nearly 500 students.
